Hello I haven't posted much to forum and made sure I looked around before posting but I can't find anything. Here's my issue, the overhead thing that displays the compass and temp, fuel mileage, etc. has begun to only show dashes.. like hyphen dashes. No matter what setting it's on it only shows a dash for everything except the compass. The weird part about it is that it only started after I put in a new brake light. Truck has been flashing on and off lamp out every time I hit a bump so I put new brake light bulb in that was out and now the overhead computer reads nothing... I haven't been able to find anything yet so hopefully someone will have some insight. I know this is not a necessary function to driving the truck but I owe a lot of money on this thing (I just financed it) and it just gets on my nerves when something doesn't work. My truck is a 3500 2003 Dodge Ram 4x4. If you have any idea plz don't hesitate to comment. Will be greatly appreciated.

 

These things have electrical gremlins. I would check your fuses and check your rear brake light install to make sure nothing is pinched/shorting out. Although the overhead console was not removed/altered the current is being effected by something with that replacement brake light. I would go as far as to remove the rear brake light -- test and see if the over head works. If yes replace the lamp making sure nothing is pinched.
