Default No alt power/trans won't shift

Hey all, just purchased a 97 12v 2wd auto dually.
Truxk will start up and run great, however it will die after a while due to not charging. I believe I have that fixed so to say but I saw about the Cam shaft sensor.
I located the sensor but no pigtail on it and I can't seem to find it anywhere. Could one of y'all tell me what sensor or connector it would be close to?
And any other pointers would be great. I will work on my signature to help out with info.

Well to make myself look bad...did some more research. Am I wrong in that a 12V 1997 does not have a camshaft sensor? And if it does not then the truck I bought has had a motor swap and no one figured out it was a 24V.

I guess i can pull valve covers and do some counting and that will answer my question.

i also attempted to read codes worth my code reader and it won't connect to the computer. Just an added issue

what did you find out? The visible differences in a 12 v and 24 v are easy to spot from the top..you don't have to pull valve covers..have someone familiar with Cummins look at it for you..12v have 6 under the vanity plate..24v have 1 long valve cover

Dodge likes to put the voltage regulator in the pcm, when the regulator fails everything will run fine still however the alternator will over charge or not charge at all. You can easily wire up and external voltage regulator.

Where did you “locate” the cam sensor at? There is a TDC locator pin underneath the injection pump (on the back side of the timing case) that I could see getting confused for a cam sensor
