Default Hard start. Leak in injector line

I have hard times starting the engine. 98 24v 400k Changed the fuel filter made it worst. Put a gauge on housing reads 7 psi all the time (crank.idle.rev)
I noticed a hissing sound just after lift pump stops. Found a leak on injector 4. There is no fuel dripping but suck air when lift pump not running!!😞😞
Anyways. I tried to bleed the hp lines. But instead of cranking I just run the lift pump. Fuel is coming out if 3 and 4 but not from 1(only lift pressure)
Cranked few times line 1 has fuel too. Engine started sooner but still not enough.
Waited for couple of hours. Didn't start at all.
1. I have poor batteries
2. Engine starts with ether right up
3. Runs perfect and powerful
4. No white at all but little black smoke when reving

My question is
Is there a free path between lift pump and injector 4 specifically?
How can I solve my starting issues.
And how can I make sure my vp44 is good or bad.

I'll install a fass next week
will update soon

You need more than 7 psi. See if you can replace the orings and also tighten the bolt on the back of the head. That should help with your hard starting.

Put FASS
put pressure gauge reads always 10_11 psi even after a night when i put the key in and pump starts for a sec itll goto 11.so I don't think I lose prime
put batteries
changed the tube o ring on 4 of them. Two were damaged
retorq to 40 ftlb
still no good start
doesn't start even a second after engine turn off. Cold or hot doesn't matter
uphill downhill too
no leaks
no oil in diesel
No buck. No power loss
starts better if I put edge juicer on extreme mode or disconnect at all.😐😐😐
Does ether hurt my engine? Cause I'm using it every day
any idea what is wrong with the engine?

What FASS did you install? 10-11 psi is very low. Did you tighten the bolt on the back of the head?

I ran the fass through the old lift pump and filter. Took out the vanes though.
No I haven't touched the back bolt yet. Will do tomorrow
got it scanned today
has errors for speed meter and boost sensor. Also throttle position sensor.
I'm planning to fix the speed meter, resetting the apps, tightening the back bolt tomorrow.

Don't run it through the old lift pump. Your lift pump will have to work twice as hard for no gain.

oh no
the old pump is unplugged. The vanes are out. It's just a rotor in it. If I run both pumps it'll shoot up to 25psi. The vp44 can't work properly then. Bucks at 1200 rpm.

Reset the apps
fixed speed meter
changed o ring on 5 and 6.
number 5 tube was wet and a little black on the head. Scuff with 2000 sand paper. Torqued
tightened the back banjo.
put some cleaner + dextron atf in the filter housing and bleed
started right up.
and every time since morning.
still hesitates after sitting long but way better
engine noise is calmer I'm not sure but it's too soft
any ideas?
no power difference though
the pyrometer shows 1000f think it's good
I will change the washers on the back banjo!

and will put a clear hose on filter housing to see if it's pumping air.
Thanks for the advice ghost man! !!
