Redhead steering gear box
I have put in two remans from Orielly's and one from Napa, they were about as bad new as the old box i was replacing.
Finally bit the bullet and got a Redhead box and it really has made a difference ...

If Borg and redhead are only supplying stock reman (saginaw) boxes, I'd skip it. Just get a rebuild kit or reman box from rockauto.
One of them (Borg or redhead) used to sell a 3rd/4thgen box (Delphi) adapted for 2ndgens. That's the box two of my buddies got. Its a good one, and do fine with 35" tires.

Borgeson still sells the modified Delphi box, which looks fabulous on paper. I've had it for two years, put nearly 100k on it. sent it back three times. Bought it with their "OEM style" PS and hydroboost lines, which mist at the fittings, and their "high pressure" pump, which was leaking right out of the package and had to be sent back twice. I am far from impressed with Borgeson.
Ah, so it is Borgeson. That sucks. The one buddy must have ~5 years on his Delphi conversion box. The other guy's truck got written off, and the parts are sitting in my shop.... if anybody has questions about it.
They still make it, but they used to offer it both new and reman. They had too many issues with the reman and stopped selling it that way.
Don't get me wrong, there is a lot to love about the box, but it's typical of hot rodded parts: you pay a lot of money, jump through some hoops, and roll some dice. I know several people running their parts (IRL, not internet talkers) and while the ones on plow trucks do tend to wear out rather quickly, for the most part I am the only one of us to have had these kinds of issues. I'm open to the idea that I just had bad luck, not to mention my truck gets worked a lot harder than it gets maintained. And I have never had a box brace on it, so there's that too.
Regardless, it's a gamble, but every box made for these trucks is. So if you've got the cash for the significant price bump over a Saginaw box and the upgrades on the Borg/Delphi are a big deal to you, it's worth rolling the dice. As far as I know no one else is making any kind of upgraded box for these in the mainstream, at least anywhere near this price point.
Just keep your original stuff around so you can keep driving the truck if you have to send the Borg stuff back for warranty work
