Do you notice any difference in power? any obvious miss? mileage on the motor? What kind of oil do you run and is it cold where youre at?

Sometimes a loose vacuum line at the pump right there can sound like a knock, maybe check those lines

I didn't notice a difference in power but I shut it down as soon as I heard the knocking, no noticeable miss, the truck has 170,000 but I rebuilt the motor about 30,000 ago, oil i was using Rotella but the last 2 oil changes i switched to Mobile, and yes it's been really cold I'm in Montana

Maybe a loose valve up top slapping, If no miss then a rod shouldnt have been thrown??? I would take a look at that vacuum pump if you can, I know we've got today and tomorrow for a bit of warmth here, if you're anywhere near Bozeman I'd be happy to try and find some time to help out
