Turbo 350 vs. Turbo 400
I purchased a 1983 chevy custom deluxe 4wd with the 6.2 motor. The tranny was a turbo 350 but its trash metal flakes and black crap all in the tranny fluid. im looking to get a turbo 400 tranny since i plan on pulling heavy trailers with the truck. Now, im having a hard time finding a turbo 400 that was in a 4wd truck. Can i use the output shaft, spacer, and crossmember mount from my 350 to convert a 2wd 400 trans into 4wd compatible? Thanks -scott
Even if the output shaft would swap (doubtful), the adapter is completely different.
If you do find a th400 4x4 it won't work with your current transfer case as your going from 27 to 32 spline. Also a th400 is longer so your drive shafts will have to be replaced.
I'd take the th350 to reputable builder and tell him what you want to do with it. Save yourself alot of time and money.

Well got the turbo 350 in and now its hard to make it shift to 2-3. Is this an issue with the modulator?
