Ok, so my 97 just developed a strange issue. With headlights off, if I put on my right blinker the blinker will blink, but every time it does the dash lights will come on also, like you put on the headlights. With headlights on, the right blinker indicator stays on solid. Left blinker works as it should. Just put new batteries in it today, not sure if that has anything to do with it but I assume it does. Any ideas?

Truck is a 97 Cummins crew cab conversion. 111k miles, auto

 

The only thing that I can think of is one of the blinker bulbs on the right side is upside down in the housing. When I put in LED bulbs in my tail lights I had to flip the bulbs over in the connector because my dash was blinking.

Why it would start for you now, I would have no idea.

Sounds like bad ground to the blinker/ Multi-function switch .. back feeding to gain ground to complete the circuit
