Default will not start without starting fluid

When I try to start the truck In the morning ( on a cold day or on a hot day ) it turns over but won't start without starting fluid. Wether I plugged it in or not I tried changing the fuel filter and air filter in hopes that it might help nothing. Help

Diesels, particularly Powerstrokes get addicted to Ether. STOP!!! If you have the know how, check the glow plug relay and each glow plug. If not, take it to a mechanic. You need some combination of a harness, glow plug[s] or controller. If your Stroke is addicted to Ether it may remain a bit hard starting and exhibit wear/power loss.

Most common issues is glow plugs and or relay.

Don't use either unless you feel like replacing an engine. Its easy to lift a head when using either on an engine with a working glow plug system

Default glow plugs and wires and relay

I purchased the truck a year ago with 223506 miles on her I replaced the glow plugs after 10000 Miles it now has 301855 miles on her. I didn't do anything to the relay that was mentioned in one of the threads I received. What can I do and how can I do what needs to be done to get it working or does it have to be replaced. I love this truck and want to make her for a long time hopefully until she reaches her 900000 birthday. Help me to get her to reach this point please. 123jack321

The relay needs to be replaced. If I change glow plugs I change the relay just to be safe. Its on the passenger side on top of the engine. They are easy to replace and only take about 15 minutes to do.

When doing the relay be sure to clean all terminals. Be sure to clean grounds, etc. Do it right.
