Default Red/orange fluid on rear diff

2006 3500 Quad Cab 4x4

Got to work this morning and the front of the rear diff and the left (driver's) side axle and the interior of the rear left wheel is wet with a red(ish) oil. Red is usually transmission fluid, however the rest of the truck is bone dry. No leaks around the power steering pump or the transfer case. Now, two days ago I installed a gooseneck hitch so there was some heavy steel banging around under there. Is there a fluid line I could have damaged? I'm quite confused and I'd appreciate any wisdom you gents could throw my way.

*sigh* Never mind. Transmission cooler hose was split and jetting the fluid to the rear of the truck.
