Default k47 air intake turbo silencer question

I just picked up a k47 air intake and after reading some It seems that the tube coming from the front of the turbo an heads towards the fan is some sort of turbo silencer. Seeing some pictures I see that a lot of people have removed it. My question is what can I use to plug the hole safely. I was thinking of using a crank case breather filter. Would that affect the flow of air headed into the turbo?

No it doesn't silence the turbo G.M. Turbos are quiet the turbo whistle you hear on some trucks is the way the blades are made I wouldn't use a crank case filer as you would be allowing hot engine compartment air into the engine and this is no good, I have the K47 with that tube on mine and I tied it back to keep it from rubbing the fan it has maybe a little more engine growl verses the rectangular breather box.
