Hey I'm just starting to get interested in diesels I kinda have my eye on sticking a dt466 in my truck. Was thinking of using the mt643 for the sake of simplicity cause I'm Pretty sure I won't have adaptation issues. So anyway I'm not really planning on making a hardcore 4 digit hp motor nor am I building a big lifted 4x4. I have an 88 quad cab dually Chevy 2wd. I've been looking at the older mech injection motors and pre egr stuff for the sake of simplicity but I don't know if I can do much with it performance-wise. Can I get 500 to 600 hp out of the mech system? I've seen people double power in old 6bt cummins motors without doing much so I figured it shouldn't be too difficult with a motor as big as the dt466. All I really want this truck to do is be pretty fast, sound good, roll coal and occasionally haul heavy stuff to the dump. Ooh and whip mm brothers 6.7's a$$ ( it's basically stock with straight pipe ). Any input would be greatly appreciated.
