Default Radio on after key is off

I have searched and searched and can not find an answer so hopefully someone here can answer my question

I have a 2007 2500 Laramie factory nav radio. Why do all the new cars and trucks radio stay on after key is turned off and stays on until door is opened, is this a safety feature ? can i change this setting

Any help would be appropriated

It is a setting in the BCM portion of the ECU. Probably there to remind you to get your keys or put it in gear, set the brake, etc.

I'm not using the stock radio in my '06 and didn't see anything in the owners manual that applies. Depending on your trucks options, check your '07 manual. I saw this in an '07 manual (page 155) if you have EVIC:
“KEY OFF POWER DELAY > OFF” – When this
feature is selected, the power window switches, radio,
hands–free system (if equipped), and power outlets
will remain active for up to 60 minutes after the
ignition switch is turned off. Opening a vehicle door
will cancel this feature. To make your selection, press
and release the RESET button until “Off,” “45 sec.,” “5
min.,” “10 min appears.
