Question Edge ez chip stops working after shutting truck down and restarting.

Ok so my question is more to do with electrical than audio and then again it could be something else entirely. I have a 2001 dodge cummins 4x4 5 speed 24v and I just put an older model edge ez on it. (The one with the jumpers inside it not the toggle switch) and on first startup in the morning or after sitting all day at work it works fine. But if I shut the truck off and get fuel or run into a store or something, when I restart the truck the edge has stopped working. I have no idea how long it has to sit to come back on and work again I just know after all night or all day at work I start it and it works fine. All connectors are plugged in well I checked everything. The only thing that keeps it working is if I start the truck and don't shut it off all day. Which is bad on fuel and in the long run the truck. Anybody have any idea why it would be doing this? Thanks

You said you put an older model Edge on it. Must have bought it used? Maybe the unit is failing and it's time for a new one! Just a suggestion!

Short circuit or Loosely connected terminals can sometimes cause troubles like this.
