Bully Dog chip

My friend gave me a chip for a 99 Ford powerstroke. Can I use it on my 97 Ford with the same motor? I noticed on the website that the product number is different in regard to the years of the truck. Thanks.

Also I don't have a temp guage for the chip. I do not pull a trailer or anything but am skeptical about running a chip without a temp guage.

i dont know anything about bullydog other then they are junk. i would also be careful about running it without gauges.
