Finally got my truck holding about 36 psi after it peaks at about 40.

Went and did some 1/4 mile runs on a good (blocked off for safety reasons) road. Best time I got was a 15.8 and 99.8mph my 0-60 was terrible 7.82 seconds due to 19 degree temperature and my tall narrow tires don't help. But once it hooks it feels like I'm flying. Is this a good time? What could I expect from some fatter tires on a prepped track ? I have no experience on a track but I know it would hook better if was 65 degrees warmer.

 

I would definitely say that the speed at the traps is good for around a high 13.00 Quarter. If you want to see how your launching or how bad the traction issue is you need to dial in your 60 foot time. Make several passes at different throttle settings, also if you are launching like a fat lady from the table at a Sunday Buffet add some rear ballast to the bed.
The speed is good it should be better that 15.8.
I use White shoe polish on my slicks in a wide radial line and a team member can see how much tire spin we are getting.

 

I keep my spare in the back along with about a 200lb toolbox. But my speed is damn near up there with my corvette but about 3 seconds slower. What would be a good tire to run? I plan on just buying 2 rims and tires for the back because once I go to college I will be around a track and want to make some passes

 

If your state DOT allows it you could buy some street slicks from M/T, Hoosier, M/H. they have tread grooves and are soft compound. They tear up fast driving on the roads specially if you have a limited slip rear end. Also I wouldn't tow anything with them as the load rating is not adequate.

 

I have an impact and I'm willing to buy a set of rims and tires just for the track and swap out just to have fun.
