Default 2008 6.7 dodge cummins revs up when cold start

hello guys. I live in Saskatchewan Canada and when I start my truck in the mornings -15ish Celsius it will start but rev up to 1200 rpm at first with a big puff of smoke runs with a miss for about 30 seconds levels off and purrs like a kitten. I'm sure it's a injector just wanna know any tips for testing them one at a time. Tomorro night gonna cap off injector line 1 start it get the air out of the system shut it off and leave it for the night. In the morning start it and see if it runs on 5 or pops and farts and will only run on 4. And go down the line each morning. Don't really have the cash to drop money for all 6 right now. Any helps appreciated guys thanks

Is that starting a cold engine at -15c? If so, try plugging it in and starting it when its warm. That's damn cold and diesel engines, no matter what the make, do not like really cold cold starts.

Ya I agree I'm familiar with diesels. Maybe not -15 haha maybe -5 but it's not normal for it to rev up to 12 or 1300 rpm for a couple seconds. Like there's a injector leaking and it starts and burns off that fuel that's in the hole.

Yeah, you might have a leaky injector. Question now is...which one? How many miles on those injectors?

Probably a good idea. That leaky injector may get worse and you could end up with hole in your piston(s)......worst case scenario.
