Hi everyone, I was noticed my turbo was not making the typical noise it makes when you let of the gas it sounds quiet I don't have that air release sound. Where would I start to look for an issue. 99 7.3

 

You will never hear the wastegate, you are most likely hearing turbo bark

 

The sound I was getting when you hit the gas and let off you get that ppssshhh. I hear the turbo whistle. So that noise I've been hearing is the turbo? Where does the excess boost go when not needed. I have a Guage on my boost so I know that it is spooling and releasing. Then my turbo needs some attention maybe? Any thoughts would be greatly apreaciated.

 

The wastegate releases pressure but are not hearing the pressure being released. Unless it's running different I wouldn't worry about it. You can pull the intake and check for play but I don't think I would mess with it
