Default What to do with 20k?? Plz help

Ok so I currently have a 2001 2500 Cummins 24valve but I'm looking to get something else and I have a 20k budget. I like my Cummins but I was thinking about going for a Duramax because I won't be doing much towing, and correct me if I'm wrong but This I what I've mainly picked up on the Cummins vs Duramax topic. If you want something that will tow, is a manual, will last forever, and take abuse but is a little bit more of a "rough ride", then you get a Cummins. But if you want something for a DD that has a nice ride and interior and is more for driving around, is an automatic, and not as much for towing (and I'm not saying that the Duramax can't tow I'm just saying that the Cummins is made for towing, and the Duramax isn't as much for towing) then get a D-max. That is what I have mainly heard (and again correct me if I'm wrong) and that is why I've mainly settled on getting a D-max because I won't be towing that much and don't want a manual. And I've heard the the lbz is the best in terms of least problems with the truck, Is this right??? And I guess my main question is, with my 20k could I get an lbz with lowish miles (150,000-180,000) and get to 500-600hp? Thanks for reading and any help is appreciated!

I know this thread is older, but Im kinda bored so i'll answer this

Yes you can get a decent truck for $20k, and you could get some decent power from it

and with that you could also tow more than your 01 cummins and do it without a headache and sore back, ask me how I know

Britewhiteram is correct, for that price you can surely buy a decent truck or buy cheaper but road worthy truck and buy some aftermarket goodies to beef up the truck you bought.
