Hello all, very new to forum posting and was trying to get direction in information. I have a stock 5.9 cr except for a k&n intake from previous owner at about 150k miles. I just got an hx60 from a friend from a dredge cummins engine. I was thinking of a twin setup because from what I have read a single is good for drag or pulls. My thought is to use it when I need it for pulling my boat which is a 25' cabin cruiser or welding equipment. I'm looking at trading my current cummins in for a manual as the cost would be lower than swapping considering I still owe on the truck. I don't know the hours logged on the turbo just know that it doesn't have any play in the shaft. I know allot of factors go into play add in like what I'm looking for torque and hp and what fuel setup to use as well as transmission upgrades and head studs and upgrades to the exhaust. Just trying to get general idea to get information. I looked on google for what I was looking for but couldn't find the exact information I need.

Gotcha, better off selling and just getting something new? Any suggestions on a budget based turbo for a twin setup? If need be I can fab up the piping.

 

Forget the twin set up! takes money and a lot of extra parts! If you don't tow get a silver 64 if you do get a 62 done and done!

 

Ok bud, I was trying to research part pricing and was looking close to 10k in parts.

 

If you can make your own piping. A box s475 would work great for you.
You can get them fairly cheap. And if you ever want to swap it out with another s400 frame charger you could.

 

If your set on compounds we can get you a nice add a Turbo kit to go with your stock Turbo.

getting compounds or a bigger single turbo really depends on your goal is and what you use the truck for (which you said). i personally dont care to go with a bigger turbo because a bigger turbo will spool slower then the stock and i like to have fast spooling. getting a manual will make it worse since you loose more spool shifting in manual then an auto does when it shifts. so personally i would use the stock turbo with compounds so i dont loose spool like i would with a single bigger turbo. the advantage of a manual is all you have to do is put a clutch in vs getting an auto built. you can get a you get a compound piping kit and a s475 for like $2150-$2600 depnding on what piping kit you. so how much more is it to get a compound kit vs a bigger turbo? depends on what turbo you, but it just be a few hundred dollars. that is well worth it IMO
