Trying to figure out how much horse power could I safely get out my truck with a automatic transmission

 

It's kind of a guess, but I put down 448rwhp with just a shift kit. Around 500-700rwhp steel planetaries are a good idea.

It really depends.. My dads bone stock d250 cummins ate the auto at 186000. Cost over 5000 to replace it and is already slipping 12000 miles later, id really build up the trans before doing to much, while some people get away with x amount of hp with a mild trans most dont. three of my friends and my dad went through there autos pretty quick, one did nv5600 swap the other one spent a large amount on hopping his up, the other one bought a new truck. Just my .02.
