Hey there. I have an '06 CTD 4x4 with 32,000 miles. I just noticed a chirpping noise coming from the rear of the truck only when the truck is moving in a foward direction. It does not seem to do it in reverse or neutral. It sure seems to me like it is something in the driveline (transaxle?). Any suggestions, we are taking our camper out this weekend and I don't know if the dealership will have time to fix it. Thanks in advance.

 

Kind of sounds like a dry u-joint. You might want to pull the shaft down and see if any of the joints or caps are really stiff.

 

Thanks JC. I think you are right on. Looks like we will have it into the dealership on Monday to have them take care of it under warranty.

 

it may be a dry carrier bearing too???
