I'm new to four wheeled diesel trucks. (I drive a 50,000# Cummins powered Fire Engine for a living). With my Mini Maxx and 5" Exhaust will an intake like S&B help me with mpg and a little bit of HP? I read different things and am currently confused. Any help or advise is appreciated.

 

Short answer no. Long answer the stock intake is a good enough design to support anything the stock turbo can do, so mpg's won't be affected, and power gains won't be noticed in the slightest

 

Ok, thanks. What filter would you put in the stock air box whenever it's time to replace?

 

I used wix because I could get them cheap. Good rule of thumb is stick to paper filters and avoid oiled on a diesel. The turbo always sucks at least some oil out of the filter, and they usually get dirty way faster
