The two shouldn't be related! Are you parked on a hill? truck starts? Key turns?

No, I am not parked on a hill. The truck starts and key turns easily. I am stumped.

Pretty sure you have to step on the brake to shift so maybe that sensor is out or something?! Get under the truck and check your linkage. Take your park brake off and push pull the truck see if the Pawl in the tranny is just stuck!

Same thing happend to me about 4 years ago right after I fueled up at a truck stop. Just suddenly. It would not budge, for nothing. I forced it and broke something cuz suddenly the gear selector "went limp", but it went into drive somehow. Luckily a Dodge dealer was located nearby. They replaced the cable assy., and it cost me $285 bucks for purchase and install. Hasnt failed me since......knock on wood. May be same issue for you. Good luck bro.
