Gear New! Need Help!

Hey guys,

New to Diesel Bombers, but I've been on here quite a bit to looking for answers and for help but alas I was unable to find what I was looking for!

Alright I've got a 92 cummins with 204K on her. Upgraded governor spring as well as an air dog II 100 fuel system. I do a lot of my own wiring and engine work since I actually have it dropped into a 79 Ramcharger.

So here is my question. One I am pretty sure my OD does not work. Second I can not feel my truck shifting at all but it must because I am getting up to 65, 70 no problem. So I am wondering if that is normal because it also seems like the engine just keeps running up but I have no heating problems or anything. I don't have tachometer yet so I am unsure of rpms. First things first is my transmission running right and is that normal for the engine to run like that? Im getting 23+ mpg so something must be right. Next if that is right is what do I need to do about OD for when I am on the highway?

You must have some tall gears in it to get that kind of MPH out of it with no OD. I'm thinking somewhere around 3:08, Check what gears you have. As far as the OD goes you can run a toggle switch or use a pressure switch to engage it, mine i have on a toggle as i like being able to control the OD. also with the tall gears you will not feel the shifts as much as you would with say 4:10.

If you have the TPS still hooked up than unplug it and see if it makes a difference.

I was told it was geared at 4:10 thats what makes it stranger. I wouldn't know how to check. Still doesn't really answer about the how the tranny is shifting and how the engine runs. I just sounds like its going up and up never really relieving or relaxing

If it's unplugged then it for sure wont go into OD, just troubleshooting. Mine you can't really feel OD kick in, but if it doesn't with 3.55 gears it sounds high reved by 55.

It is a transplant and pretty sure he is not running the ecm on it so it would not matter on it.

It is running the ecm. Most of factory wiring is still used

It may be the tps or you might not have the wiring right, it is easier to just toss the wiring and ecm and just use an external voltage regulator and then a toggle switch on the od, change to the factory sending units from the ramcharger and the gauges will work, really no need for the ecm on a swap.
