I have a 2002 7.3L that I am having a crank no start issue with. Here is a short timeline of how my issue started. Day one, it cranked but did not start first time but started right up on second try. Drove to work and parked it for 8 hours started fine when I left work and did some running around town. Made two stops and it started fine both times after. On my way home, I stopped at store and left it running while I stepped inside. If died while I was in the store. It started up fine and I drove it home. The very next morning, it will crank but will not start. Fuses have been checked out to be ok, and fuel pump sounds as if it is working. I pulled the fuel filter cap and turned key on and I have fuel flowing into the bowl. I am very novice at diesel engines and would appreciate any advice/direction that anyone has. Update since this mornings post. I changed the CPS with grey one acquired from Ford house and changed the fuel filter. Still have crank but no attempt to start. While cranking, the oil pressure guage comes up, but the tach does not move at all. Another thing I noticed is that the fuel pump seems to making a spitting/sputtering sound when key is turned on. Lasts about 3-4 seconds, then I hear a sound that appears to be coming from under the hood just in front of the drivers side door. That sound is one that I was not hearing before this crank no start issue started. Thanks for any help you may have.

 

Are u getting white smoke out the tail pipe and try to jump the glow plugs relay
