12 valve wire harness

Is it hard to wire a harness by going wire by wire? I was gunna put a 96 12 valve in my 98 Dodge that had a gas motor in it. If I got a 98 motor would it just plug and play or would I need the ecm from a 98 diesel?

You will need everything from the Diesel , The Gasser will have different plug's and connection's .it will turn into a Royal Pain .
