438 yards sighting in a STATE ARMS 50 BMG, shooting at a 5 gallon lid, but the Millett 4-16x56 scope lens was rattled & I couldn't shoot anymore, sent the scope back to Millett, they sent me a " N E W " scope & I sold the scope

Yeah I bet that scope was rattled. Thats a big freaking round! I have to say, Ive never fired a .50 BMG (.50 cal muzzle loader and S&W .50 revolver only). My longest was 620 yds with a Remington 700 heavy bbl, bolt action .308. I was shooing at an 18" inch round steel plate. Ah good times........
Its been a couple of years since Ive done that. Now days I stick to the 300 - 400 yd range.

I was trying to save some money, I have two NIGHTFORCE NXS 5.5-22x56 & don't want to spend the big $$$ on buying another NIGHTFORCE, so i bought the MILLETT 4-16x56 for $67, but it didn't take the recoil of the 50 BMG, beside the NIGHTFORCE NXS, I also use the BURRIS BLACK DIAMOND 8-32x50 on my 50 BMG.

Burris actually has pretty decent scopes. Its a good brand for sure. I'll bet you see dollar signs flying out of the barrel right behind the bullet, every time you pull the trigger on that 50 BMG.
