Default TS 6 position

I just got and installed a TS 6 position chip in my 97. My stock, high idle and 50 hp settings work great but can't feel a difference on 75,100, or 140 setting. All the instructions from ts say not to take the contacts down to copper but when I called ts the tech told me to take them down to copper, I am confused. Looking on powerstroke.org some say they took theirs to copper and the truck would not start others say that's the only way they got it to work was to take it down to copper.
Anybody know what to do?

If they are working then you are fine. They don't have much fuel with stock injectors so you won't feel a ton of difference

That's what I thought if I did not clean it right it would not start or through a code but it runs great and smoothed that idle out. It just don't change the power from 50hp on.

Might be running out of fuel pressure?
