02 duramax should i pull the trigger?
i'm looking for a cheaper diesel truck and i found an 02 duramax 4x4 lb7 for a good price, but i'm a little concerned about the injector problems with these trucks. it has 168,000 miles (270,000km) the owner said he changed glow plugs but never injectors, is this enough reason to stay away? or should i pull the trigger and buy it?
depends on if your willing to drop about $2,000 when it needs them its pretty easy to put them in yourself mine has 174,204 and just put a set in along with a new CP3 aka fuel injection pump
injectors on the duramax can be ridiculous, around $3000 for just the injectors not including the cost of labor if you do not know how to do them yourself. These trucks also have weak front ends (google image search, "teach me how to chevy"
), on my grandpas 2002 i had to change out the steering box, and all steering linkage at 120k, then both axle shafts started clicking at 140k.
However the chevys ride amazing, like a caddy compared to my cummins.
