Default low fuel rail press, change fuel filter!

I have an '08 3500hd showing low fuel rail press and change fuel filter. I replaced the filter and all WAS good. On the way home from being out of town I got the same message so i removed the water drain and used the primer to "flush the filter" being I was on the side of the interstate with a trailer and no shoulder room. That worked for about 5 miles before it did it again. This time I replaced the filter on the side of the road thankfully I had bought an extra and was on my way. that also lasted about 5 miles! So i limped to the next exit determined to get home and fueled up, I had about a quarter tank. When I left the truck ran fine all the way home about 200 miles, I had also reset the fuel filter to 100% and it didnt drop. Any ideas?
I'm thinking if the pump is in the tank it may be overheating, and the full tank helped keep it cool. maybe a filter in the tank clogged. I also did notice the fuel was hot when I replaced the filter but that may be normal. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

I had a problem one time with the tank fuel sender it would get stuck at about a 1/4 tank and this is a well known problem.
I see that after you filled up it went 200 miles with no problem maybe you were on empty but showing a 1/4 tank. Have you measured the amount of fuel it takes to fill it up from a 1/4 tank?
here is a picture of the sender unit keep in mind this is a 1998.5 through 2001 dodge ram 3500 sender.
