Maybe I can help you some. As a retired marine engineer I have worked with the following engines...Gardner, Vivian, Atlas, Blohm & Voss and many others. Lots of experience with common rail injection systems but can't be much help unless engines are strictly mechanical. You can reach me at Prospector125@gmil.com. Regards...Barry.
Thanks Barry. It is good to know you. I tend to do my best to stay away from the electronics when I can but that is getting pretty tough. I bought this 1996 Dodge thinking it was still mechanical. Wrong again.
Know what you mean. All the engines have gone for crap with the electronic stuff. That's why caterpillar quit building engines except for mechanical marine applications. By the way, whereabouts are you? Ilive in Keremeos, southern okanagan. Regards, Barry.
Familiar with where you are. I'm a friend of Alex Bracewell who owns the lodge at Tatlayoko. When we visited him a couple years ago, I got an old 5 cylinder marine Gardner engine going for him to keep as a standby. Quite a job, needed a lot of injector work had to overhaul each injector individually. Also did some work on his shaky old light plants over the years that were only one step better than junk. Those old medium speed Gardners are a wonderful engine, the one at the lodge was a 5LX butmy favorite is the big one, the 8L3. Might get to meet you next time we take the motorhome into the Chilcotin country. Regards....Barry
