Default 6.2 Cheap Tricks

I just got an 83 GMC K1500 with a 6.2 in it. For being a non-turbo motor it has a decent amount of power, but I'll be towing a truck and trailer this summer and was wondering if there were any Cheap Tricks/Upgrades to get a little more juice out of her. Also my throttle valve is a little stiff and its kinda pissy about downshifting it won't unless I just about put it to the floor. I'll try and adjust that today. I also read about the fuel pump adjustment to put more fuel in? How about that? Thanks!

Turning up the pump will put more fuel in the engine but if it doesn't have enough air then it will just make smoke and heat and hurt the engine.

Might be worth the effort to get a set of 6.5 turbo manifolds, exhaust crossover and a turbo with a turbomaster fitted and get more power that way?
