Default Hello! New member here!

Hello all! My name is Greg and I am from central Indiana. I currently own a 1985 M1008
A1 CUCV that has had the original 6.2l replaced with a 6.5l N/A motor. As far as the truck goes, the body and interior is in about as good of shape as you could wish for for a 1985 truck, just a very small amount of rust on the cab corners which I have and am just waiting on the shop I have chosen to replace them to be able to do it. Unfortunately the PO that replaced the old 6.2 with the 6.5 was a...how can I be nice.... a hack! I was told when I bought the truck through an auction that it did not like to start when warm so I figured I would be replacing the injection pump. Once I got into it, I discovered that only one of the 3 bolts attaching the pump to the motor was present! He had also stripped out one of the starter bolt holes and heli coiled it. I also found a cracked head so had to replace them. This last Dec I needed to replace the flex plate and found he had also stripped out a cpl of the holes in the crank and luckily enough, there was enough thread left that for the time being I was able to just use a slightly longer bolt in those holes to reach the remaining good threads. Unfortunately I have several other problems and think I am just going to replace the engine and am currently looking for a 6.5 turbo to replace the current engine with. I am hoping to find a complete GM setup to use, but if not, I will be on the hunt for a banks setup. Once this is done, I would like to put a 4" lift on the truck and a few things like that. I have always loved these older box body Chevy trucks so even thought its eating a huge hole in my pocket, I am enjoying it very much!
I look forward to learning from all of you as well as sharing my experience as I slowly build my truck. I have already installed a hand throttle kit from a Hummer as well as installed a CB and military antenna/brush guard cutting the antenna for the proper SWR reading for my CB. Once I get my engine issues taken care of, next on my list will be king pin replacement as well as some other general maint. issues, so I have a summer full of fun planned.
I look forward to getting to know you all and share my experience!
Take care,
Greg
