I've searched this forum for information on this swap. Admittedly, I'd rather do a 4bt, but the cost is just too prohibitive. So my first question is - has anyone done this? I see there's a video on youtube (search for "mercedes diesel in f150") but it's a 2wd and appears to have the mercedes tranny.

I know there are adapter kits to mount the OM617 to the M5R2 transmission I have in my truck.

MAIN CONCERN: Will I have clearance issues with the crossmember?

KNOWN: This will be a very low power engine for the vehicle, but I'm not looking to do much towing or haul heavy loads.

Has anyone done this conversion?

 

Look around for om617 engine into Ford bronco. I've seen these a lot, also check out the other forums like 4bt swaps.

I am in the middle of installing 617952 engine into 1984 f150 shortbox 2wd with 95 s10 5spd trans bought the adapter from hams lake MN Modified the oil pan to get more clearance. Making motor mounts now. going to use MB rad and oil cooler.
