Default Turbo oil leak, not pedistal

Hi all. I have a 95 f250 with 315k. Obs, regulated return, airdog 165' no cat, no muff, 4" dp back, dual stack. Just gutted the ebpv, replaced all 4 Orings. They were leaking bad. Drove it for a week and still had an oil leak from the. Removed the interior and carpet, took the cover off the hump, cleaned the oil off the transmission and drove it. At less then 1700 with no turbo boost, no leak. At higher rpm oil leak down the back through the weep hole. Looked at the turbo again and noticed oil leaking from under the exhaust side of the turbo. Also noticed what looks like grease ( is probably cooked oil) where the center carrier for the turbo shaft bolts to the exhaust side turbine housing. I had a spare turbo that I got from the scrap yard for training. Took it apart and didn't see any sort of seal on the exhaust side of the shaft. Is it the shaft leaking, will a rebuild kit have the parts to fix, or.......... Do I need a new turbo. I will post some pics in a min.
Thanks for any help

You mean on the turbine housing? I thought it was too, but after some investigating its not. Whew.

If you look at your extra turbo as a guide, if you look at your turbine shaft, there is a small metal piston ring type seal the is in a groove almost to the turbine itself. That is what seals to the cartridge on the turbine side.

I get my kits from Barder Turbo. I get the 360 degree trust bearing upgrade kits, only a few dollars more than a standard kit.

Thanks. I am guessing this ring is in the kit. Is there a place to get the grove side it rides in, or is that one piece in the carrier assy? It does not look like the exhaust side of the carrier comes apart.
Thanks again

Yes, the ring is in the kit. There are two different kits- one for TP-38 and one for TP-38R. Yours is a TP-38. Only difference in those two kits is the size of the compressor housing o-ring (everything else in that kit covers the seals and o-rings for both turbos). That kit alos includes 4 new bolts to use on the Comp backing plate. Those that are replaced, I reuse on the Turbine housing (those get pitted from heat).

The groove for that seal is machined into the turbine shaft. The turbine with it's shaft is one piece. The parts are all individually balanced, so no worries on changing the balanced. I rebuild them for friends and friends of friends... but honestly, most of the job is getting them apart and the cleaning. Do not bend the shaft or the fins. The comp wheel fins are delicate.

Go here to look at and download pdf instructions on how to install that kit:

Great info. Thanks. I am going to get the 360° kit. Seems like a worthwhile investment. I will post after completing this project.
