Default 450-500BHP Motor

Hi from a newbie! This is the best Cummins related forum ive seen on the net so thought it best to ask you guys..

Im building a 98 12v. The motor has 215HP P7100 and HX35. I may even get a Banks twin-ram intake kit (unless theres a better type you guys can reccommend). What, apart from 4k GSK, 60# springs and screwing the turbo up to 40PSI will i need to do to get my figure, or will that lot be enough?

Thanks guys

you will need alot more than that to get the numbers you are wanting
for starters
aleast a 63/68 or bigger turbo
5x12 or 5x14 injectors
upgraded fuel system
valvebody and triple disc converter
no need for a ram
a cold air intake
free flowing exhaust
gauges
and your afc tuned
thats where i would start

Maybe i should have added just to clarify...

When i say 450 - 500BHP, i mean engine horsepower, not at the wheels.

then stick with the
stock turbo
your stock 215 hp injectors
a set of 4k govoner springs
a #6ish fuel plate
a little timing
and your there.
400hp at the crank can be had for almost free.

Keep the stock turbo but mod the wastegate on it, my favorite plate for the 215's is the number 10, add the mack rack plug to everything listed above, and forget about that banks twin ram waste of money for what your doing

one more note for you. everyone hates on the twin ram. i think its because of the price tag. i picket one up used for half price and there is a difference, atleast with my truck. egts dropped approx 50* and everything just seemed to accelerate smoother. now i cant recomment going and buying an intake for what your doing it would be a pure eye candy modification but there is some merit to an intake manifold once you really start adding some fuel and air. however there are many many better places to spend your money.

I agree with the bold, for most street trucks its really not needed. The main issue I have with the twin ram is the price, the $ per hp is not good at all.

I have one on my puller and yes it really does make a difference but not one you can feel. The added aggravation of putting it on and taking it off is not worth it.

I agree with ya both ... If you must have a twin intake ... cgo to crazycarlsturbos.com and check out there setups .. hell of a lot cheeper and or just make your own .. really not all that complicated .. 2 90* bends a few 45*, maybe less .. and a welder .. and some flat plate , get that done and buy some aluminum 1/4" or 3/16" ... use the stock intake to mathc up holes .. drill and then drill holes and use a jig saw for the intake holes .... and VILOA !!!! WAY CHEEPER THAN BANKS .. and you will have bragging rights too

Thanks guys. That seems more realistic for what im after. I will ditch the idea of the twin-ram now that i know its worthless for my needs. I want to spend my money smart, not for eye candy mods
