Default 48RE Performance Upgrade Kit advice

So I am slowly building a list of upgrades that would like. I dont do a lot of towing, Im not going to lie I just want the power.

I plan on the basics first. 5in exhaust, tuner, air intake. Eventually I would like to beef up the fuel system, add a compound turbo kit, exhaust and intake etc.

I hear that the stock auto transmission on these trucks dont handle more than 100hp over stock and I am sure with a good tune, air intake and exhaust I will be right there. I would rather go ahead and upgrade my trans before instead of blowing it after.

I found some upgrade kits online, but didnt know how reliable these were. I really cant drop 7-10K on a performance transmission and 2K is about my max.

Anyone know of a good option for beefing up the stock 48RE?
Thanks

If it's in good shape start with a valve body, Torque converter, then the GM soleniod swap and band strut and apply lever. Don't forget the billet servos and last a good billet Input shaft! Extra tranny cooler with fan and a bigger pan with temp sensor!

I just recently had my transmission adjusted and found that the bands were at the limit. I'm wanting to buy a larger toy hauler and was worried about twisting it up on the drive home from the RV lot. A friend of a friend who builds trannies is hooking me up with a torque converter, clutches, valve body rebuild and more. The price is damn near shameful as I've priced out rebuilds on eBay. I'd make sure your guts are still good before adding the valve body and torque coverter.
