Default Exhaust

ok I have the tymar air intake TS 6 position tuner 3" down pipe now I want new exhaust not stacks looking for a deep tone any suggestions on size

5in will be deeper then 4in but it doesn't do anything other sound

I am reading this and trying to process what it says.

I understand that 5 inch exhaust would have a deeper sound than 4 inch exhaust...

Are you saying that there is no other benefit going from 4" exhaust to 5" exhaust other than sound? (Thinking there are 6" pipe kits out there also...) I do understand that the turbo turbine outlet (at least on the TP-38) is only 3"...

Mine? Dual 3 inch exhaust through mufflers. Mine seems very "quite" compared to most, but I still seem to have plenty of flow without any noticeable back pressure at all. Although, flow and area wise, I'm not sure where I sit compared to a 5" pipe. I think I have more flow than a single 4" but less than a single 6" pipe. So, I'm not sure where I compare to a 5"... And I was wondering if I should go to a 5 " or not. Not sure of any benefits that I would gain there... so your comment really caught my attention. (Personal interest peeked...)

4in is going to flow all your ever going to need. So going to a 5in kit isnt going to do anything for you performance wise. At that point all your doing is going for looks and sound

Then-- I guess since with my dual 3 incher's, I have 2 sq/in's area over what I would have had with a single 4" tube, going to a 5" tube would be a waste of money for me.

I had thought that with it being only 3" at the turbo compressor outlet, that here would be a "only opened up to" after that to "big as" limit somewhere... Good to know. Thanks.

I was told that 4'' was for truck under 450hp and 5" was for truck over. But i agree. Unless your building a high performance rig its probaly just what you think looks better.

I have over 500+ and you dont need 5". Maybe when you get into the super pullers like double overtime or when the turbo outlet is 5" but not in a regular pickup

I thought you could go over 450 with a 4" but thats just what i was told. Good to know from someone who has 500+.

When I get everything back up and running I should be 600+. I have no worry about 4" being enough

3" downpipe 4" straight pipe beyond that.
