Default Fuel line connector

I need som advice. Upon removal of my rear fuel tank one of the fuel Lines slipped off once I pulled off the safety clip no fuel line removal tool needed. Am I safe to put it back together this way or should it be replaced. If the line wasn't connected quite all the way would that cause it.

Maybe... I mean, that if it were me, when putting it back together, I would see if the line locks back into place, before putting on a repair fitting. It may have been just a fluke that it came apart. May be bad. If proved bad, then I would repair it. If bad, then it's going to suck air into the lines. That is never a good thing on a diesel.

I got it figured out last night. The po had the tank out to put in a hidden hitch and I don't think he had the fitting on all the way. When I reinstalled it it was secure. Thanks though
