Take apart the steering column and grease the ignition. Stock gauges will be like that. They are not the best….

the switch on the bottom of the steering column is most likely to blame ... they become incrusted with dirt internally ...

If this keeps up .. you will break the cam inside behind the tumbler and its not fun to do .... the rod runs from back of tumbler to the switch on column .. if it does break you can use a small pry bar claw foot to push it down towards floorboard and it will turn over .. i had to break the cover off ... was in a hurry and late for work ...

Now i have a simple push button for starter and the rest still works fine ... just wont push starting rod all the way down .. and now i can crawl over rocks ..
