Default afe adjustment, read and read still need help

hello everyone, ive been reading up on fuel pump mods, ive already re ground my fuel plate to a 100 profile, and slid the plate and afe full forward, now i feel comfortable enough to start adjusting the smoke screw and star wheel, but had just one question that i couldnt seem to find the answer for by using the search, what way does what for the star wheel? does adjusting it toward the motor decrease or increase fuel? thanks in advance!

Toward the motor increases, toward the cab decreases; but it's only preboost. Minimal difference.

the starwheel adjusts the springs pressure on the afc diaphragm. Tightening it increases the amount of boost needed to move the afc arm loosening it decreases the amount of boost needed to move the arm. The adjusting the starwheel will give you no extra fuel its just an adjustment on how soon you wan the fuel to come on under boost.

The preboost screw will adjust the amount of fuel allowed before boost is built, screwing the screw in allowes for more pre boost and screwing it out allowes for less pre boost fuel. This screw also does not increase the amount of fuel the pump will flow its just a tuning adjustment.

You aren't really going to get more power from it one way or the other, it's a micro-adjustment of efficiency. Get governor springs.

No. It's arguably easier to instal them with the pump off, but it's far from worth the trouble. It's more work to get it off and back on than it is to just instal them with it on. Main thing is good directions and meticulous attention to following them. Oh, and, don't drop anything inside.
