My gen light came on while driving tonight tach works gauge reads great everything is great but the dash light is on the weather outside is bad high winds and lots of snow and that's what I was driving threw when it happened any help would be great thanks

I have a cb and gauges hooked up also if that means anything

 

Either your alt. went or your fusable link blew. Look in the fuse box in the engine compartment and there is a fusable link for the charging system.
I would check the fuseable link first. It could be something simple.
That's what it was when my gen light came on last year.
