Default Need to buy reman injectors

I need help. My truck is in the shop, and the last piece of the puzzle is 3 bad injectors.

The shop says they only use brand new, but those are over $400 each!!

Where is the best place to get top notch remanufactured injectors??

I looked around a bit, and Cardone seemed to be about the best, but then the guy at the shop told me they have tons of problems with other Cardone components.

This is for a 1996 7.3 PSD.

Thanks in advance,

Derek

Looks like they are selling modified injectors. Are they stock? I'm only replacing three...

Ask them for more details... Telling you you have 3 "bad" injectors... to me. is like a Doctor telling me I am sick and not telling me what I have.

There are some common things that go wrong with AA injectors:
The coils are showing the wrong resistance, shorted or excessive resistance. Sometimes this is just the valve cover gasket, which has wiring going through it. The injector wiring harnesses under the valve cover. A loose connection between those two. Or the coils on the injectors.

* I just repaired a truck that had 3 bad AA coils. The Ford dealer told him he needed all new injectors and it would be $3400 for the job. The coils are $50 new, $20 used/tested. I get mine from injector shops.

Next thing is the injector o-rings. Sometimes worn o-rings will let things get by them and when they leak like that, the injectors will fire weak. Injector seal kits are cheap. (The labor is not.)

Sometimes, it's really the injectors themselves. New AA injectors from Ford are $240 each.

Ask them if "they" know the difference. Diagnostics shouldn't be a lost art. Of course replacing those 3 injectors would solve all those problems... But sometimes that's like hitting a finish nail with a sledge hammer. Diesel parts get spendy when you throw them at a problem.

But before replacing injectors... I always check compression. That way I have a baseline and it doesn't come back and bite me. Sometimes a borderline cylinder will look like a weak injector on a basic scan. If I fix something, I want it fixed and to stay fixed.

If I have to replace a whole set of injectors, I can get someone a whole set of stage 1 Baby Swamps for less than a set of stock injectors. And they are warranteed for 5 years/200,00 miles. (that is longer than Ford's warranty on new!) So that is not a hard decision. If I was told $900 for 3 injectors... $1150 for 8 injectors is not far off and you wouldn't have to worry about the other 5 injectors for any time soon. Once you have the valve covers off and you're already pulling 3 injectors... It's not much more work to change out the other 5.

I think I checked on Cardones a couple weeks ago and they were $180 and the told me they were warranteed for a year. Last time I checked with my local injection shop, it was $120 each for them to rebuild. Stock AA's from Swamps are $150 each.

Great advice!!

If you need Fullforce injectors we have them in stock. If they are all on the same bank jest replace the whole side and be done with it. Labor will cost you much more than another injecotr if you have to diagnose and tear into it in 5-10 k miles.
