Heard that you can only put a 3 inch downpipe on a 95 7.3? Still wanting to do stacks but I wanted to put a 4 inch downpipe on it. Just want to know what's true and what's Bologna

man it is impossible to fit a 4'' down pipe into an obs 7.3 because of the tight engine to firewall clearance. i installed a 3'' downpipe in my 1995 powerstroke and it fit but was still a nightmare to get in.

Well I remember on my 96 that a 3" downpipe was used and it was tight. I could have beat in the firewall with a hammer maybe to get a 4" in there but I didn't want to abuse the sheet metal. A 95 is propbably very similar.

That's what I was afraid of guys. I don't wanna beat the hell out of the firewall to get something to POSSIBLY fit. I guess I'll stick with a 3 in downpipe. Any suggestions on a new air intake? Heard a lot of good things about afe and a lot of bad about K&n. What are y'all using?

The stock airbox can flow enough to support 400 HP, that being said they don't look cool. Myself I use an S&B Airfilter I from Ken's Performance Solutions. He was great in all aspects to deal with.

I can't say if the S&B gave me more power, the 96 7.3 is only 200 hp anyway. I doubt it gave me more mpg. What it did for me which I like, is give me the ability to clean and reuse the filter and it looks cool when I raise the hood.

Hmmm I'll look into those and see what they run price wise. I just hate the way the stock box looks so bulky and ugly. Just definitely need to figure something out with the exhaust though because everything from the cat back is cut off. Nice, loud turbo whistle but need to do a stack very soon, hopefully I can find what I need, just hate to pay damn near 600 just in parts. I can't find anything cheap. And when I say cheap, I don't mean shitty quality, I mean a middle of the pack brand. Any ideas there? Silverline? Mbrp?

Nothing is impossible, you can run a 4in down pipe. You just have to pull your engine, channel your firewall and build a custom downpipe.

I run an AFE intake. No intake will give you HP, they are a supporting mod not a power adder

Yeah that is why I wanna do the intake because I just got stage 2 injectors. Just looking for a better airflow. Gonna stick with the 3 in downpipe. Found a nice one from diamond eye for about 90 bucks. That's both pieces. How hard is it to get that old downpipe off the turbo? Is it a cobra head? Can't really tell. Feel like it's gonna be a pita.
