I am looking at buying a used Duramax to replace my cummins (which i love, just need something different). I am looking at either a 2002 Duramax with 165k or a 2006 duramax with 175k. Both have relatively high miles for what I usually buy but I was just wondering if you guys had any thoughts on which truck I should lean towards. I know the 2002s had bad injector problems and I am currently trying to figure out if they have been replaced or not. Just wanted to hear your guys' thoughts on the subject on which truck I would most likely get the most life out of. Both trucks are in great shape.

 

Get the 2006. That year they did a bunch of internal upgrades to the engine. Plus the injectors arent hidden under the valve cover, so they wont dilute your oil if they start leaking. 2006 also has 6 gears instead of 5 ( a second overdrive for better mileage when cruising).
