clunking sound with random shaking
I have a 02 excursion with a 97 12v with about 185k on the truck we have replaced the ball joints and the steering bar now there is a clunking when hitting bumps and a random shake you feel in the steering wheel and the floor after hitting bumps I'm about to replace the sway bar end links and the track bar bushings and the leaf spring bushings, am I wasting my money one these things when its something different ? TIA
My buddy had a clunk, and it was the trac-bar bracket loose on the frame. Older truck though... not sure if the Ex uses a bolt-on bracket or not.
Also check your balljoints. They can cause clunking.

Look at your frame end shackle bushings too. A lot of guys do the spring bushings but the shackle has a bushing in frame that is overlooked! It will make a big difference. The clunk is probably spring hitting frame from wear up at top of shackle.
