Default Any Tech Info On Hot Rodding A 4BTA

This is my first post here, so go easy on me. I am building a dedicated rock crawler with a Cummins 4BTA diesel in it. What is the best place to start on improving throttle response? I really don't want to swap turbos at this time...

if its a VE pump and im assuming it is, go over to https://www.dieselbombers.com/1st-ge...-pump-you.html and look at my posts there, easiest way to get started on a VE pump, after all that you can do the 3200 Gov. Spring on it......

There are alot of people that knows way of getting more power out of the 4BTA at 4btswap.com. Try getting a turbo elbow. They have a set screw in them the tricks the waste gate into opening later. 3200 gov spring is also a good way to go. Turning up the fuel is something else that you can to. I can't think of the name for it right now, but on the top of the injection pump there is something that tells the pump how much boost there is there is a nut iniside there, tighten down it down, (acts light a blatter.) will make your pump think that there is more boost then there really is.

that is the smoke screw your refering too and it does nothing but make smoke........max the fuel screw til you cant idle it down anymore and turn/grind your fuel pin or buy a new deeper one, your choice, get rid of the speed screw, for complete detail look at my link........

swapping in a 4BT and a 6BT require about the same amount of work.......just less cylinders.........we got plenty of tech here to support the the 4BT/6BT so just hang around.......
