Default Thinking about an '08 F250 6.4L

Hi guys! Looking for some input! I currently have a gas pickup and I have always wanted to get a diesel. I grew up with the superdutys but they were the 7.3L. I am not familiar with the new Diesel engines...so I have found an 08 with 77k miles for around $27k. What are your thoughts? What troubles does this engine have? What can I expect for mpg? Any thing else I need to consider? Any info would be great! Thanks!

Is the truck stock ??? You should be removing the water out of the fuel filter once a month, change both fuel filters every 15,000 miles & change the oil every 5,000 miles. Stock the truck will give you 10 to 12 MPG with a tuner & egr, cat, & dpf deletes I've been getting 13.8 to 15 MPG, but I drive my truck like I stole it

I would be extremely careful with the 6.4s make sure they have been stock if you buy one! My brother bought one with 60 k on it and it had a tuner and some other stuff done.....he drove it 75 miles and blew it up...... NOT beating on it. But I guess with the new motor its a nice truck... but I'd still be careful when buying them

If you buy a 6.4 you need to do your homework. They are great motors if you delete the DPF. Major problems they have are DPF systems causing turbo damage catastrophic motor damage due to fuel getting into oil cavatation of the front cover and a few other issues most of which are caused by the DPF system. People have complained about the 6.0 for years now and say stay away from it. If you get a 6.4 you can bet any problem that you have will cost you twice as much to fix. The 6.4 is a good motor but only if you keep up with the maintence.
