The transmission shifts hard in all gears! It's a F40D.If I disconnect the battery for a short time ,it works OK tell I hit passing gear.Then it's the same old same!Put in a nether speed senser, tryed a different computer,chicked the vac.lines.

 

It's an E4OD and its not a super duty. Those are 99+

 

Your right joebob 3093! I have a late 1998 super duty (1999) the 1997 is a friends truck I'm working on.My 1998 shifts late out of passing gear.Do you know Y.

 

I would scan it and see what kind of codes its throwing

 

NO codes in the 1997 or the 1998

A actron (CP9580)It's a good scaner.

 

I don't know a lot about autos my guess is solenoids? Is it tuned?

 

I changed the solenoids but no change in the traie.

 

Is it tuned?
