help me. High idle and bad shifts
I just got everything back together. I had the p pump off and added a hx40. Got everything back together and its ildling a little above 1000. Ended up turning the adjustment screw all the way down and the idle never changed. Pulled the gov spring plug, backed the spring shims off as far as i could with out the shim coming off and idle came down to about 1000 even.
Took it for a test drive and it doesnt hardly want to shift. Im thinking maybe adjust my TV cable but not sure about the high idle. Just wanted to get some thoughts form others before i tinker with it tonight

If it's idiling around the 1000 mark or even a little higher that's alright. Mine idles at around 1100 rpm.
The shifting issue could be with the valve body, transmission line pressures, torque convertor, it could be anything.
Just another question off topic, is your killer dowel pin taken care of?

97 cummins the adjustable rod was a few turns in and was holding up off the idle screw. Just had to piddle with it. But as far as my shifts I need a new TV cable. Its a little frayed and i had to super adjust it to get decent shifts so im guessing the frays may have let it stretch a little. Any suggestions where to get a tv cable? I live near genos and go all the time but they dont have them. And I really dont want to go to the dealer or get one off fleabay unless someone else has and its a quality product
